Summary:

  • Consistent with the company mission to organize and make information universally accessible, the Learning & Education (L&E) team mission is to democratize learning & education for all. To achieve this we are focusing on a few pillars including
    • Assist learners in their learning journeys
    • Catalyzing content ecosystem 
    • Improve learning experiences across products
    • More generally, the team will explore critical user journeys, identify gaps in information needs, and then build full stack solutions that enable learning and education. We leverage horizontal infrastructure to build these features on the search results page, Discover, notifications, YouTube and the Assistant. As this is a new team, there will be a heavy emphasis on user research and experimentation to inform the vertical strategy.

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Design usability studies via interviews and surveys, partnering with designers & product leads.
  • Through data, help refine design systems and integrate new features into our evolving products.

  • Mixed methods research: Your research will guide e2e product design, program design, deployment and evaluation. 
  • Balanced strategic and tactical mindset: Your research will balance foundational insights to guide high-level program decisions as well as tactical work to define individual features or infrastructure design.

In Education, the topic of inclusion and equity is even more challenging as it encompasses local norms for users and environments that may be unfamiliar. Research has the opportunity to help us understand and advocate for users, ensuring inclusive products that improve the education of everyone.
  • The UXR will embed with the Edu-search team and work closely with them while also pairing with the Education Research’s UX team, who will help manage, guide, and review the work. 

 

Top Responsibilities:

  • P0. Conduct usability studies of upcoming features working closely with our PM & UX teams.
  • P1. Conduct foundational research and lit reviews to examine assumptions and lay the groundwork for new products
  • Use qualitative methods to develop user insights and product opportunities based on behavioral data, product metrics, feedback from users, and executive steering
  • Analyze and interpret both qualitative and quantitative data
  • Create findings and recommendation reports from lit reviews and studies
  • Communicate findings and recommendations to stakeholders

Mandatory Skills/Qualifications:

  • B.A./B.S. (completed) or M.A/M.S./Ph.D. (in progress or completed) in Human Factors, HCI, Psychology, Computer Science, Social Science, or other field emphasizing human behavior
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience

​Desired Skill/Experience/Education:

  • Experience teaching and / or developing educational products
  • 2+ years of relevant work experience, including integrating user research into product design.
  • Ability to translate research findings into actionable insights for the product team
