Job Description:

This Travel team creates solutions to help people plan, book, and enjoy all kinds of travel: a dream vacation, a trip home to visit family, or their next business trip. We collaborate closely with two other sectors of the company to provide the best answers to travel related queries. Key products include: Transportation, Lodging, and Destinations/Activities.

One program allows travelers to explore places to stay across the world, to compare prices, read reviews, dive into photos, see location information on a map, and eventually find the best place to stay. 

This program is the enterprise tool that collects important data on rates and availability from the providers, enabling travelers to find it oline. The Company has hundreds of active partners, and more than millions active hotels on the platform, from over 80 countries around the world. Partners include hotel and vacation rental suppliers (Marriott, Sonder), OTAs (online travel agents – ie Booking.com), metas (platforms to let you find and compare prices – ie., Kayak, Tripadvisor). Over the coming months, we’ll also continue to improve the onboarding process for new partners.

Overall Responsibilities:

We’re looking for a strong visual and UX designer to drive the day to day project work of extending, refining and evolving the program's functionality and ease of use. Our focus is on features that enable our partners to have better insights into their presence online and to make sure we’re showing the most accurate, high quality data about those hotels and vacation rentals to our users.

Responsibilities:

  • Collaborate with design, programming, technical art directors, and producers/production management on developing and ensuring vision for domain area
  • Champion accessibility, internationalization, and product excellence across internal and external teams
  • Define design principles and goals/success, via deeply understanding user needs and business requirements
  • Partner with UXR and PMs to identify and address user needs and on research programs to uncover deeper insights
  • Lead brainstorms and cross functional workshops/ideation sessions to drive progress on key strategic areas
  • Lead design reviews with stakeholders of concepts and iterations
  • Lead visual design direction for large projects (optional)
  • Collaborate with engineers to ensure a high degree of polish and meet accessibility requirements

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  1. Collaborate with product managers, engineers, and cross-functional stakeholders to understand requirements, and provide creative, thoughtful solutions.
  2. Integrate user feedback and business requirements into ongoing product experience updates.
  3. Effectively document and communicate designs through the creation and maintenance of high quality design mockups, flows, prototypes, and specs.

Skill/Experience/Education:

Mandatory:

  • Bachelor's degree in design or equivalent practical experience with a portfolio highlighting multiple projects that demonstrate experience crafting elegant and usable digital services
  • (4-5 years) Interaction Design Experience collaborating with multidisciplinary teams of designers, researchers, content strategists, engineers and product managers throughout the design process
  • Strong experience with presentation decks, presentation delivery, user experience, and user centered
  • (4-5 years) experience creating user centric solutions in partnership with non-design roles, including: flows and wireframes, detailing user interface mockups and prototypes
  • Experience designing for desktop + mobile web
  • Experience adapting and extending visual design systems / languages
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to listen, articulate positions, and advocate designs
  • Fluent in Figma
  • Prototyping skills
