Job Description:

The Central Accessibility Team is looking for a proactive and passionate Senior accessibility UX researcher to join our team.

This position will focus on driving key foundational research forward that will impact multiple products as well as running high profile research efforts across many products related to accessibility of their products. Collaborate on across teams to ensure the research is useful and impactful will be a significant part of this role.

This position offers the opportunity to help evolve our overall research program for accessibility and to help integrate accessibility research into the standard processes.

Overall Responsibilites:

  • Learn the ins and outs of the needs of users with disabili es through various methods of research to help establish a base knowledge.  Remove obstacles to integrate accessibility into all research (e.g., Work closely with recruiting to ensure all teams have access to participants with accessibility needs, ensure survey tools are accessible)
  • Conduct foundational and strategic research with users with disabilities to improve accessibility and inform best practices 
  • Train UX teams in accessibility research methods and standards
  • Work with product managers, designers, engineers, and other researchers to help run accessibility‐focused research (e.g., can range from providing general guidance to co‐leading research efforts)
  • Collect and analyze user behavior, expert interviews, secondary research, and existing primary research to projects to generate findings, recommendations, and reports

Skill/Experience/Education

Mandatory

  • 5+ years research experience
  • Experience executing foundational or strategic research to identify user needs and opportunity areas
  • Strong synthesis capabilities ­ bringing a variety of data sources including expert interviews, secondary research, and existing primary research to projects.
  • Experience with older adults, accessibility or working with people with disabilities, or inclusion related work.
  • MA/MS or PhD in: HCI, Psychology, Anthropology, or a related field and/or equivalent practical experience
  • Strong storytelling skills and communication to bring insights to life.
