Job Description:

The 3D Production Technical Manager, Development possesses strong design development skills - particularly in engineering and fabrication - in addition to project management, supplier management, and partner management skills to deliver against a wide variety of 3DVM initiatives. You will be instrumental in supporting the design development process as a technical resource, advising our design team on engineering options and implications, consulting with suppliers to drive smart and innovative solutions while upholding quality standards and managing budget and time constraints.
Our team delivers best-in-class quality through collaboration with our Design groups and dedication to strong partnership with agencies, suppliers and cross- functional teams.

Description
• Lead technical aspects of the design development process including: model reviews, engineering methodology, fabrication guidance, supplier selection/management
• Guide and advise in engineering and fabrication discussions with production, design and supplier teams; provide context and translation between 3DVM team, engineering and business units
• Provide proactive, innovative solutions and lend strategic thinking to all projects, discussions and processes
• Organize and manage supplier reviews; present options, document feedback and capture action items
• Execute against project strategy and negotiate project shifts with nimble, innovative and strategic approach
• Collaborate with design, project management, producer, cross functional teams, procurement, legal, production teams and supplier partners to deliver best-in-class solutions
• Serve as an ambassador for the 3D Production Team, establish and maintain trusted and productive relationships with cross-functional, agency and supplier partners

Key Qualifications
• 7-10 years of design development and fabrication experience in a design agency, architecture firm, corporate in-house studio or fabrication shop or manufacturing facility
• Project leadership experience managing the design development process for 3D physical deliverables
• Ability to advise and educate design teams on engineering, fabrication options that may influence design outcome
• Design CAD proficiency
• Experience reviewing models and understanding drawings
• Experience across various fabrication methods and understanding of testing, validation, compliance and certifications
• Manage and document prototype builds and installations
• Aptitude for project management, strong eye for quality and high attention to detail
• Curiosity and desire to explore new solutions and creatively problem solve
• Ability to thrive in ambiguous environments and self motivate
• Proactive, innovative, highly organized, and calm under pressure approach
• Ability to work flexibly, both as a team member and a project lead
• Ability to build relationships through clear communication, transparent collaboration and dependable results
• Ability to make accurate and timely decisions
• Strong written, verbal communication and presentation skills

Education
Industrial Design, Product Design, Mechanical Engineering degree preferred or relevant experience

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS
This role is based in Santa Clara Valley, with international and domestic travel lasting up to 10 days at a time
