Job Description:

We are looking for a Metadata Analyst for a leading Energy industry client located in Spring, TX. The Metadata Analyst is part of our client's Central Data Office which has a mission of developing enterprise data sets in support of the corporation’s strategy to treat data as an asset.

Responsibilities:

  • Work with Enterprise Data Governance leads and Data stewards to define and capture metadata for the CDEs, evolve common business glossary, and facilitate the linkage between business terms and underlying metadata.
  • Identify, understand, articulate, and document Critical Data Element (CDE) requirements
  • Work with business to standardize and formalize CDEs
  • Assist Data Stewards to identify enterprise data requirement
  • Perform basic data quality analysis
  • Refine and implement the enterprise metadata management framework, inclusive of business, operational and technical metadata
  • Define and validate the enterprise wide metadata management procedures and guidelines
  • Development and deploy management process associated with metadata quality in the repository
  • Operate as a change agent across EM, guiding a directing various data management activities focusing on growing the maturity level within the company

Qualifications:

  • 5 years of experience in Data Management, with at least 3 years of experience deploying enterprise-wide metadata management programs
  • Hands-on experience with data lineage, data cataloging
  • Hands-on experience with Collibra
  • Experience in capturing and documenting complex and functional requirements
  • Ability to identify problems/opportunities, analyze root cause and present
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills as well as communicating technical issues to non-technical audiences

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with data analysis tools such as Power BI or Tableau
  • Experience with data related regulatory programs (such as GDPR)
  • Knowledge and understanding of data governance challenges and best practices for metadata, data quality and data stewardship
  • Working knowledge of Big Data, Data Lakes and Snowflake ecosystem
  • Experience with data profiling or defining data quality rules
  • Experience writing/editing internal communications or training-related materials in a corporate environment
