Job Description
If you want to design innovative UX solutions to challenging scientific and technical problems in a collaborative environment, join our corporate community of 60+ UX professionals. Our Upstream UX team drives software designs used to make billion-dollar business decisions.

Job Responsibilities
Lead designs for products that help our geoscientists, engineers, and operators make multi-million dollar decisions across the Upstream and Global Projects organizations.
In the first month, review existing user research and designs for products and understand the strategic direction for the capabilities. Integrate with the product team. Attend or conduct usability tests for active designs.
In the first three months, develop and start implementing research based design plans to improve the products in your charge through thoughtful research and design. Start to understand the domain and the challenges that users face as well as create designs for the product teams to implement.
In the first six months, be fully integrated with the product team, comfortable with the domain enough to design, and have developed enough of rapport with the product team that design and design validation are part of their normal development process.
Engage with internal stakeholders, end users, and vendors as needed to understand their needs, concerns, and limitations.
Engage with users (globally) to build a strategy for how to design for gaps in knowledge and understanding of technology as well as how to present uncertainty in optimization solutions.
Collaborate with other designers to critique designs, build on standards, and contribute to the upstream technical design language.
When working with an external vendor, build relationships with them in order to influence their design direction by providing research results and design suggestions.
Maintain project flexibility, nimbleness, and velocity to respond to dynamic business needs.
