Job Description:

Our clients Safety Data Analytics team is looking for a temporary analyst with both quantitative and qualitative skillsets to identify and analyze trends, prepare monthly reporting, support various continuous improvement projects and new software implementation, and perform data management functions. The team handles nominal, ordinal, interval and ratio data types, and analyses are often needed on narrative incident descriptions. This position can be flexible for students who need to attend class during business hours (minimum of 32hours/week required).


Day-to-Day Responsibilities/Workload:

  • Gather, analyze, and communicate conclusions using data from multiple sources
  • Complete analyses of narrative incident descriptions as needed
  • Apply logic and analytical technique to data classification/grouping
  • Identify problems based on data, trends, and analysis of inconsistencies and anomalies
  • Provide technical expertise and recommendations to both small and large projects in the area of master data and record corrections
  • Support monthly reporting and executive-level presentations
  • Assist senior team members with data storytelling
  • Perform ad hoc duties and other responsibilities as assigned
     

Required Skills:

  • Demonstrated ability to perform moderately complex quantitative analysis with the ability to gather, document, analyze and draw conclusions to present to executive management
  • Three or more years of experience entering, updating, and maintaining data sets
  • Experience with data integrity techniques for complex data sets
  • Experience preparing reports or academic papers and analysis from raw data (including qualitative)
  • Experience handling sensitive and confidential data (such as HIPAA requirements)
  • Experience using the Microsoft Suite, such as Access (building databases, running queries) and PowerPoint
  • Two (2) or more years of experience with Microsoft Excel performing advanced functions such as sorting and filtering data, data validation, VLookups, charts and graphs, and pivot tables
  • Safety training, experience or certifications, and/or experience with Claims or Workers Compensation

  • Ability to work as part of a team that collaborates regularly to meet tight deadlines on high-profile projects
  • Attention to detail necessary to produce high-quality work
  • Ability to work with both quantitative and qualitative data sets
  • Experience working well under time constraints

Desired Skills/Attributes:

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Business, Applied Statistics, Industrial Engineering, Organizational
  • Behavior, Environmental Health & Safety, Industrial Hygiene or closely related field
  • 5-7 years of experience in analytics (can include school experience)
  • Experience with Key Performance Indicators or dashboard creation/data visualization
  • Experience with analytical tools such as SAS, Power BI, Python, R, predictive analytics, etc.
  • Ability to craft programmatic responses to identified adverse trends is a plus
