Technical Writer Hourly role - ongoing Approx. 40 hours weekly benefits available.
Aquent Studios employs Technical Writers (also known as Information Developers) to work on projects for our clients. These people report to our account manager and are accountable to our project managers. The Technical Writer develops, writes, and helps manage overall quality of support documentation and web content pertaining to accounting functionality, dataflow and methodology of software.
With minimal supervision, the Developer/Writer works on complex content development that requires exceptional writing, troubleshooting, collaboration, and work management skills. The Developer/Writer works with subject matter experts to find a balance between technical accuracy and simplicity for the intended audience.
Duties and Responsibilities
Writes content relating to but not limited to software, tax accounting functionality, frequently asked questions and statutory accounting, focusing on audience requirements.
Exhibits an excellent customer service attitude at all times and serves as an example to others.
Demonstrates advanced skills and understanding of technical communication, and grasps new technical information with minimal guidance.
Develops and writes outlines, drafts, and final deliverables for review by the client.
Maintains detailed knowledge of relevant style guides.
Aligns with the goals, strategies, and objectives of both Aquent and the customer and works to ensure those directives are met.
Resolves project issues effectively and successfully with project personnel.
Proactively contributes to project status and timeline reports, work scope or process changes, and quality standards guidelines set by the client.
Takes ownership of all interim and final deliveries; for example, making sure deliverables conform to set standards.
As appropriate, provides documentation and recommendations to the Project Manager and client regarding project improvements, process improvements, organizational strategies and direction, and new technologies and tools.
Keeps current on tools and processes used by our clients.
Maintains an example of excellent communication with stakeholders.
Bachelor’s degree in a related field.
Master’s degree in a related field (optional).
Excellent writing and editing skills.
Fundamental content management concepts and proficiency with computer applications such as Word, Visio, Salesforce Knowledge, SharePoint, Excel and Confluence.
Excellent client and team communication skills.
Proven collaborative skills in a virtual and in-office writing team environment.
Accounting experience: Confident with accounting terminology and accounting acroyms
