Our client's Jr. Pipeline TD's role is to provide tier 1 technical and asset management support across a variety of teams and projects and participate in the development, maintenance and support of tools within the visual effects pipeline.
The Jr. Pipeline TD provides short-term support to production teams, monitors support queues and production resources and engages in a highly collaborative process with Sr. Pipeline TDs, Systems Engineers and Sr. Artists.
This position requires a background in visual effects or software development, a curiosity about the visual effects pipeline, a positive & goal-oriented attitude with a focus on problem solving and excellent communication with a variety of stakeholders in an ever-changing environment.
Provide tier 1 technical and asset management support and maintain production database integrity and consistency
Monitor support queues and triage support requests
Monitor render farm resources and identify compute, storage and IO bottlenecks
Participate in the development, maintenance and support pipeline tools across DCC applications, projects and teams
Educate and support artists in using the pipeline and its tools
Work with other Pipeline TDs and Systems Engineers in a highly collaborative process
Engage in productive feedback mechanisms such as code reviews and sprint reviews / retrospectives
Embrace a DevOps mentality and apply its practices with the goal of achieving a high level of software quality
Detail-oriented attitude with the ability to multi-task
Ability to self-organize and prioritize tasks in a fast-changing environment
Understanding of the visual effects pipeline and production workflow
Experience programming in Python
Experience programming for DCC applications with their built-in APIs (e.g. Maya, Nuke, Houdini, Cinema4D)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills
1-3 years of experience
Experience working with Git or a similar version control system
Experience working with ftrack or a similar production database and asset management system
Working knowledge of UNIX-based operating systems such as macOS or Linux and a shell such as Bash or zsh
Experience working with the Qt GUI framework and its Python bindings (PyQt, PySide)
Experience in working within an Agile development team (e.g. Scrum, Kanban)
Experience in visual effects production
Understanding of networking and file storage concepts as well as related performance issues that might arise in a HPC context
A Bachelor’s degree or meaningful experience is required.
