* 3ds Max is required.
* V-Ray knowledge is strongly preferred but Corona Render or Arnold are also sufficient.
* Solid knowledge of applicable software packages including Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Photoshop, 3ds Max, V-Ray, and ZBrush.
* Knowledge in Marvelous Designer, SpeedTree, and RailClone are a plus.
The 3D Lighting team is a rapidly growing and evolving division within the company. We are on a mission to revolutionize how images are created at scale in the retail space by employing industry experts from visual fx and architectural visualization. The 3D Viz group works on highly visible projects that drive innovation and market competitiveness for Wayfair and its partners. Our team's ability to quickly produce high-quality photo-realistic images for both print and web is a core differentiator for our company.
We are looking for a Contract (remote okay) 3D Lighting and Materials Artist to achieve our goals of producing high-quality photo-realistic images at scale. This individual will be responsible for lighting, modification of materials including, but not limited to, products we sell onsite, and lifestyle architectural imagery. As part of our Lighting team, you'll work closely with our architectural and props assets team and the post department to take our images and products to the next level. We seek someone who can create high-quality photo-realistic 3D Imagery. This includes textures, materials, lighting, physically-based cameras, and rendering using advanced software such as Substance, V-Ray, and Corona Renderer.
Successful applicants will need to be highly-driven, self-sufficient, communicative, thrive in a pipeline seeking constant technological advancements, and have an excellent eye for detail. You will need to demonstrate an understanding of how light, shadow, and color create an architectural tone and mood and possess a knowledge of advanced 3D lighting global illumination principles.
What You'll Do:
Execute daily production work of lighting, lookdev, and modifying 3D Assets, guaranteeing images are delivered at the highest quality bar and on time.
Responsible for photoreal lighting, model fixing, materials, textures and basic post production in Photoshop.
Pivot regularly to meet our ever changing business needs. Remaining agile and organized will be a key to success.
What You'll Need:
Portfolio or PDF of body of work
Lighting and materials skills utilizing HDRIs along with strong 3D skills (both artistically and technically), with an excellent understanding of physically based cameras, lighting, shading & rendering. 3ds Max knowledge required. V-Ray knowledge is strongly preferred but Corona Render or Arnold are also sufficient.
Solid knowledge of applicable software packages including Substance Designer, Substance Painter, Photoshop, 3ds Max, V-Ray, and ZBrush.
Knowledge in Marvelous Designer, SpeedTree, and RailClone are a plus.
High skill level of texture & material development including wood, metal, glass, plastics, fabrics, organics like plants, wicker, etc.
2+ years working as an artist with a portfolio to demonstrate photo-realistic static images.
Ability to take and give constructive feedback well and apply it to their work, daily. They will also need to match in 3D the look, mood and lighting direction of 2D lighting inspiration and reference imagery.
Proven ability to work successfully within and across teams. We work closely with our cutting-edge team of Lighting, Post, and Art Direction teams. Strong collaboration and communication skills are mandatory.
You will need to be organized, proactive, and a self-starter. We are looking for a team player that can communicate effectively with the team and stakeholders in an approachable and personable way. Calm under pressure and committed to meet tight deadlines with a positive, can-do attitude.
