Job Description:

The Data Scientist will join the Credit and Field Operations (CFO) department within Customer Operations. The Data Scientist will support and enable the organization with data analysis to continuously improve the Credit and Collections portfolio. The Data Scientist will support data analytics by defining, driving advanced analytics capability, develop new capabilities and solutions along the data analytics maturity curve. This position will support CFO with data needs to improve the credit portfolio, collection and fielding strategies and drive process improvements. The Data Scientist will be responsible for executing the department data analysis strategy, apply innovative analytical and research approaches to tackle complex and strategically issues, including monitoring and analyzing trends, provide insights and research to manage the credit portfolio. The Data Scientist will be responsible to provide advanced analytics and decision support solutions. This position will be responsible for leveraging existing data, work extensively with key stakeholders across the department to understand business needs, vet opportunities, apply predictive models to business problems and deliver analytically based recommendations to drive actions; designing experiments & pilots to test hypothesis.

Day to Day Responsibilities

Define, drive and implement advanced analytics capabilities (e.g., machine learning, predictive and prescriptive) for the Credit and Field Operations department

Mine and analyze data from company databases to drive optimization and improvement of the Credit & Collections portfolio and strategies

Use predictive modeling to increase and optimize the Credit & Collections to reduce arrears and uncollectibles

Coordinates with different teams to define problem statements, collect data, build analytical models, implement models, and make recommendations; and monitor outcomes

Be a self-started, motivated by a passion for developing the best possible solutions to problems

Use analytical models to identify and provide insights into business needs and customer behavior to drive key decisions across organization for process improvement

Develop and maintain data driven optimization models, experiments, and forecasting algorithms models

Plan and develop standards to support critical analytic needs

Engage with leaders, project sponsors and stakeholders to understand their needs. Identify and educate on where and
how analytics can provide the best insights and add the most value.

Prepare various ad-hoc reports and presentations for senior management

Drives creative and innovative analytic applications and results. Keeps abreast of industry, market and company trends,
and partners with business leaders to champion the adoption of new data, analytic approaches, techniques and
capabilities. Works with teams on analytics efforts across the company.

Build deep expertise in Con Edison’s and external data. Consult on this knowledge and apply it to complex analytic
projects. Identify data and analytic tool gaps by working with IT teams and business partners, and recommend
corrective action.

Foster a working environment that generates team building, creative thinking and skills development. Mentor and grow new analytic talent at Con Edison.

Technical Tools/Skills

Must have implemented advanced analytics using Machine Learning
Ability to identify themes and trends from large data sets
Professional experience in an analytical position
Experience in statistical and data mining techniques
Experience working with and creating data architectures
Ability to synthesize analysis into stories for an executive audience
Understanding of statistical tests and processes preferred
Knowledge of machine learning techniques such as clustering, decision tree learning, and artificial neural networks
Power BI
Demonstrated ability to handle multiple assignments and changing priorities
Strong analytical skills particularly in analyzing the complexity of trends and processes
Must have Strong Presentation skills
Must have strong Excel, Word and PowerPoint skills (Access preferred)
Must have Excellent written/oral communications skills
Project Management Skills

Qualifications
Required: Bachelor's Degree in Analytics, Economics,
Statistics, Applied Mathematics, Computer Science or equivalent
Must have a valid Driver's License
