Job Description:

Our client is looking for an Associate Media Director (AMD) who will establish themselves as a partner in their clients' business.  As a leader across agency partners and amongst the team, you will be primarily responsible for collaborating with the VPs and managing an account pod to deliver highly effective media solutions and to manage all media planning and buying processes while ensuring maximum efficiency and accuracy. The AMD will play an integral role in the growth of the company and inspire creativity, development and engagement among the team members.



  • Leading the development of sound strategic communication plans developed from a solid understanding of client objectives and their brand
  • Acts as a strategic marketing partner and trusted advisor to client and creative agency
  • Maintains an in-depth knowledge of client businesses including current and historical perspective
  • Manage account teams including leading and managing an account list and the management and supervision of the dedicated planning and buying team
  • Delegate appropriately and coordinate with media supervisors, planners and buyers to support plan development and to fulfill media research, analysis and execution
  • Communicates effectively with internal implementation teams to ensure collaboration and integration of ideas into media plans that align with the overall plan strategy
  • Acts as a final review for documents before they are sent to clients/creative partners
  • Participates and oversees the overall management of departmental and company operations
  • Collaborates regularly with AMDs across the agency to ensure consistent standards and continual opportunities to improve processes across the agency
  • Expected to have considerable media depth of knowledge across broadcast, print, digital, out of home, social, experiential etc. and contribute to the agency as a multi-dimensional and resourceful individual
  • Specifically, for digital: display, programmatic, search, mobile, video, social
  • Acts as an ambassador by keeping up on media trends, attending virtual industry events, webinars, meeting with sales representatives, and inspiring client/creative partner confidence in our knowledge, experience, and passion
  • Ensure plans are executed flawlessly and deliver on client objectives
  • Works with CFO to ensure profitability of the account
  • Identifies new revenue opportunities for assigned accounts and is involved in contract/scope of work development and negotiation

  • A minimum of 7 – 10 years’ experience at a media agency including hands-on research, strategy and planning experience across all media channels (some healthcare/pharma experience preferred)
  • Experience managing a team of media planners spanning the experience level of assistants to supervisors
  • Thorough knowledge of planning/buying tools
  • Strong presentation skills both writing and presenting
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to set clear expectations and deliver positive and constructive feedback
  • A proven track record as a mentor and leader who inspires others and helps develop performance and career development opportunities for direct reports
  • Ability to build and maintain strong relationships internally and externally understanding how to work best with different styles
  • Instills confidence in VPs, clients and internal teams
