Job Description:

Aquent is looking for a Product Designer for our Fortune 500 Financial client in NYC. This is a full time, onsite opportunity through the end of the year with potential to extend and go permanent as well as full benefits - medical, dental, 401K and sick time. The Product Designer is responsible for all design work on a single product. They work closely with a Product Owner and Engineering team to ideate, validate, build, quality control and iterate on their product. They work in conjunction with other Product Designers in a Design Pod and actively participate in all collaborative work sessions. They build on a foundation of core design competency that covers service, interaction, and visual design.

Core Responsibilities
· Create all Design Thinking assets during Discovery Phase of a project: Empathy Maps, Journey Maps, Site Architectures, Proto-personas, Problem Statements / Assumptions, Lo-Fi Prototypes

· Create all final assets required for Delivery Phase of a project: Comps to spec, Hi-Fi prototypes, Confluence documentation

· Works with Content Designer to determine all copy and visuals needed to convey instructional and engaging content for the user

· Works with Product Owner to understand business needs and communicate back user needs to stakeholders

· Works with User Experience Researcher to test assumptions

· Works with Engineers to understand technical requirements and feasibility of creative work


· Strong design portfolio showing at least one of the following: Empathy and Journey Maps, Clear Problem Statements, Ideation and Sketching, Divergent and Convergent Thinking, Lo- and Hi-Fidelity Prototypes

· Clear understanding of design fundamentals: Grids, Typography, Color, Contrast, Visual Hierarchy, Spatial Relationships

· Expertise in design tools: Must know Sketch & InVision. Bonus for Principle, Origami, Flinto, Adobe CC, Balsamiq, Omnigraffle, Axure

· Understanding and experience with responsive web and native (mobile/tablet) design

· Effective communication skills (both verbal and written), especially focused on running collaborative workshops and articulating design strategies

· Familiarity in the technical capabilities and limitations of HTML, JS and CSS (bonus points for React.js, Node.js, BDaaS, and other platform-level technology)

· Familiarity with Design Thinking, Lean UX, Lean Startup, Scrum and Agile values and methodologies
