Aquent is looking for a Program Manager for our Fortune 500 Financial client in Palo Alto, CA. This is a full time, onsite, 6+ month assignment with potential to extend long term and full benefits (medical, dental, 401K). As a Portfolio Manager – Tech Writer you are responsible for ensuring that Research special programs and projects are planned, managed, and governed in a consistent, transparent, and disciplined manner. The position requires an experienced program management professional with the right mix of relevant experience and skills, an ability to flex between the strategic and the tactical, outstanding verbal and written communication skills, and a high level of energy and flexibility to get things done and thrive in a fast-paced, research focused, team-oriented product development environment.

This role is responsible for supporting the documentation of work efforts of our researchers, the coordination of our participation in conferences, managing the process for our collaboration with universities and external researchers, planning and executing the creation of marketing and other informational materials that will be published both internally and externally, and managing small research projects. You should be comfortable with owning issues and managing the outcomes for these special types of projects. You enjoy driving, resolving, facilitating and follow up for any challenge. You understand the risks and the trade-offs, and are both technical and process focused. You will have experience creating and editing technical and business-focused content.
In this role, you will work very closely with our internal partners. This high performer will support cross-functional teams responsible for engaging with various stakeholders across academia and the payments industry.

Principal responsibilities include:
• Oversees the processes that govern the management of the portfolio by working with Business and product development stakeholders to ensure the smooth planning and execution of all projects
• Creates accurate and inclusive estimates, develop budgets and project plans, participate in User Acceptance Testing, and produce high quality project charters and other planning documentation needed for funding approvals
• Achieves project goals by collaborating with stakeholders at all management levels, including researchers, engineers, technical IT subject matter experts, business partners, vendors, and senior management
• Drives requirements elaboration with business and technology partners
• Directs project activities, conduct reviews, manage risk mitigation, issues, change control processes, and communicate status to senior executives within the development and business partner organizations
• Manages and track project budgets, forecasts and schedule to achieve target scope, schedule and cost
• Facilitates collective communications across the global team related to all planning, delivery and continually works to improve processes related to Research portfolio
• Ensures that all projects are in compliance with the internal Project Management Methodology and Key Controls
• Demonstrates skills in conflict management and negotiation to achieve project goals and develop trust with stakeholders
• Manages through influence, but without direct management authority
• Proofreads and edits technical research papers and documents
• Maintains Microsoft Teams channels and pages
• Creates and maintains content for ongoing research efforts designed for external and internal communication
• Creates copy for internal and external distribution
• Creates workflow for content review and publishing
• Creates, reviews and updates PowerPoint presentations
• Manages Research papers through the publication clearance process according to the Technology Publications Clearance process
• Maintains and documents changes to the Technology Publications Clearance process
• Facilitates stand-up meetings, reviews/demos, and communication efforts for content projects
• Provides guidelines and best practices for team in technical writing techniques

Qualifications
• 3 or more years of technical writing or editing experience and 3 or more years PM experience
• An undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, English, Journalism, Communications, or related technology-focused field
• Minimum of 3+ years of portfolio management experience leading technology teams in the delivery of software development, Proofs of Concepts (POCs), operational and integration efforts
• Good understanding of Agile /Scrum and Waterfall approach and comfortable with the role of either Scrum Master, Technical or Functional Project Manager
• Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills
• Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate technical and business issues and solutions to multiple organizational levels
• Working knowledge of the software development lifecycle from requirements gathering to post-implementation production support, including quality assurance and system integration
• Strong process orientation and a solid understanding of project management techniques, methodologies and best practices
• Self-motivated; able to work independently while coordinating activities with cross-divisional teams in remote locations
• Team player; able to communicate with technical and business experts at all levels of the organization
• Solid analytical skills; able to think strategically
• PMP certification is a plus
• Excellent facilitation skills.
• Excellent knowledge and mastery of the structure and content of the English language including the rules of composition and grammar
• Strong project management skills in document analysis, writing, content organization
• Previous experience editing research papers is preferred
• Highly driven, enthusiastic, eager, collaborative (especially with multi-cultural teams across the globe and time zone flexibility), and resourceful. Strong customer service, analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills. Excels at multi-tasking; able to pivot easily.
