Job Description:

We are looking for a Design Thinking Facilitator to join our corporate community of professionals at our client, a Fortune 100 Energy Company in the Woodlands.

Design Thinking and Human Centered Design continues to grow within the company - and the Design Thinking team has been entrusted to care for, develop, and grow the company's Design Thinking Practice. To meet the vision and expand the breadth and depth by which we leverage these design concepts, the Design Thinking Team is looking for fun, energetic, thought-provoking, and learning-oriented talent to join us in this opportunity-rich environment. Design Thinking Facilitators serve in many capacities within the design space, but the key role is to design and develop custom engagements for our partners, which includes research, customer understanding, market research, problem definition, and / or design thinking workshops to help solve business critical problems. The spectrum of opportunities ranges from working with many of our company's groups and organizations. 

This role requires a high energy individual with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. The ideal candidate will be very comfortable presenting to a large room and have an ability to rapidly absorb business process knowledge. In return, the candidate will be exposed to multiple facets and business lines of the company, typically working directly with senior managers. This role will be based in Houston, Texas, USA (The Woodlands).

Primary Job Functions:
• Interview senior business executives and subject matter experts to understand problems / opportunities
• Negotiate with stakeholders and reach alignment on objectives / expectations for engagement
• Develop professional proposals for work products, project timelines, and desired outcomes
• Apply UCD and Design Thinking concepts in planning engagement, research, and workshop activities
• Understand and develop business strategy and associated concepts (e.g., business model canvass, etc…)
• Lead engagement team throughout project; stakeholder / partnership management
• Lead effort to create workshop cadence / agenda / instructions
• Organize logistics for and facilitate field research and workshops (location, equipment, materials, etc…)
• Lead development and presentation of reports and deliverables to sponsors (senior business executives)
• Data synthesis, analysis, and reporting; develop themes, insights, and next steps for engagement partners
• Lead and work with other teams internally and externally depending on engagement requirements; some engagements will require partnership with external consultants

Job Requirements:
• B.S. or B.A. in appropriate / relevant field of study
• Ability to travel internationally; flexible and adaptable to various working conditions
• Demonstrated work experience in design, design thinking, change management, innovation practices
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders
• Proficiency in the use of computers, design tools, presentation, and communications techniques
• Proven ability to manage short deadlines, ambiguity, and complete / known requirements
• Exceptional organization and analytical skills with large volume of data

Preferred Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
• Project management
• Change management
• Design / Design Thinking experience (theory and practical application)
• Minimum of 5-7 years working experience; business strategy and design strategy is critical
