Job Description:

Our client, an energy start up in Birmingham, AL is looking for a Lead Ruby on Rails Developer/Chief Technology Officer to join their team. This person will mentor and function as the bridge or connector between the development team and the other business-oriented departments of the organization. The CTO will be responsible executive decisions with regards to the technological interests of the company. They are responsible for outlining the company's technological vision, implementing technology strategies, and ensuring that the technological resources are aligned with the company's business needs.

They will be managing junior-mid level developers whose responsibilities are outlined below. This means the right candidate must have advanced/senior level experience in the below technologies and tasks:
*Experience with Ruby on Rails, along with other common libraries
*Good understanding of the syntax of Ruby and its nuances
*Solid understanding of object-oriented programming
*Good understanding of server-side templating languages
*Good understanding of server-side CSS preprocessors
*Basic understanding of front-end technologies, such as JavaScript, HTML5, and CSS3
*Familiarity with concepts of MVC, Mocking, ORM, and RESTful
*A knack for writing clean, readable Ruby code
*Ability to integrate multiple data sources and databases into one system
*Understanding of fundamental design principles behind a scalable application
*Able to create database schemas that represent and support business processes
*Able to implement automated testing platforms and unit tests

They prefer someone onsite full-time in Birmingham, but consideration will be given to candidates that live within a close enough proximity to work remotely and go onsite as needed.
