Job Description:

The primary purpose of the Senior Innovation Manager role is to lead the development of new innovation concepts from early research to development of proof of concept.


  • Leads the development of innovation concepts
  • Leads innovation workshops that identify new ideas to ensure pipeline remains full
  • Project manages innovation projects in current pipeline
  • Define research efforts that support innovation concepts
  • Works collaboratively with the Thought Leadership and Strategic Alliances teams to support their efforts
  • Identifies areas of opportunity through primary/secondary research, observation and trends
  • Develops value propositions and business models for all innovation concepts
  • Develops the high-level business case for all innovation concepts
  • Work with internal and external resources to bring concepts to a Proof of Concept prototype
  • Work closely with the Innovation Leadership team to provide feedback and input to the long-term strategy and vision

  • First class project management skills: demonstrated ability to organize and manage complex projects simultaneously to meet key deadlines is essential as is the ability to bring projects to successful completion through political sensitivity

  • Proof of concept or prototype development/experience
  • Proven international/global experience (diversity, cross border, culture, language barriers etc)
  • Exceptional communication skills, both written and oral, combined with the ability to make formal presentations to both internal and external customers
  • Works well with geographically dispersed teams; interacts effectively with staff at all levels within the organization to gain the respect and cooperation of resources, is politically sensitive and consumer orientated
  • Well-developed influencing skills, strength of character, tenacity and cultural sensitivity; can be persuasive and effective within an international environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills; is confident (knows when to seek input and when to make own decisions)
  • Independent/fact-based decision-maker with good judgement, complemented by strength of personal convictions and persuasive style, autonomous and self-managed; motivated.
  • Understands and is familiar with trends/competitor activity in field of expertise and is willing to learn, understand and apply new technologies
  • Acts with a sense of urgency and is results oriented, marked by high personal standards and commitment; balanced persona – professional in demeanour yet receptive and approachable.
  • Hands-on as necessary; able to step-up to provide effective organizational leadership when needed



Education & Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree / MBA (or similar level qualification desired)
  • 5-7 years of innovation or product development/management experience
