We think that AI is poised to transform medicine, delivering new, assistive technologies that will empower doctors to better serve their patients. Machine learning has dozens of possible application areas, but healthcare stands out as a remarkable opportunity to benefit people — and working closely with clinicians and medical providers, we’re developing tools that we hope will dramatically improve the availability and accuracy of medical services.
We follow a simple but vital premise in the User Experience group: "Focus on the user and all else will follow." We're passionately interested in our users and strive to learn everything we can about their goals, needs, attitudes, and emotions to help define the products and experiences we create. We are a multi-disciplinary team of UX designers and researchers who collaborate closely with each other and with Engineering and Product Management to create innovative products that have real impact in people’s lives.
As a Research Assistant in the AI Healthcare team, you'll have the opportunity to support our research activities in developing innovative, user-friendly products on the leading edge of Healthcare and AI.
You will primarily be assisting and/or conducting moderated user research sessions, such as interviews and usability studies (with in-person and remote participants). You will also be assisting other researchers with data analysis, reporting, and project logistics. We are looking for individuals who have excellent communication skills, are diligent, detail-oriented, and can work fairly independently.
- B.A./B.S. (completed) or M.A/M.S./Ph.D. (in progress or completed) in Human Factors, Social Sciences, HCI, Computer Science, Product Design, or other field emphasizing human behavior; or in lieu of degree, some related work experience.
- 1+ years experience in user research role.
- Some experience with medicine and/or healthcare.
- Experience moderating user studies including usability studies and/or user interviews.
- Experience with project management or overseeing project logistics.
- Detail-oriented and ability to work fairly independently on a variety of tasks.
- Interest in building/advancing a career in user experience research.
- Strong oral and written communication skills.
- Can prioritize time between multiple projects, and be flexible by adapting to changing schedules and different projects.
