We are looking for a Design Thinking Strategist to join our corporate community of professionals at our client, a Fortune 100 Energy Company in the Woodlands.
 Job Description: Innovation Design Strategist
The Fuels & Lubricants Innovation team is a commercial innovation team that is responsible for: 
• promoting and supporting innovation efforts across the Company; and,
• for leading and managing adjacent and transformational (horizon 2 and 3) innovation projects.

To meet these objectives and expand the breadth and depth of our team, the F&L Innovation Team is looking for curious, collaborative, intellectual, experimental and self-motivated talent to join us in this opportunity-rich environment. 

Innovation Design Strategists serve in many capacities within the F&L Innovation Team, however their key role is to set design direction, create visual communications and prototypes, and, represent the design discipline and communicate its value to non-designers. Through balancing divergent and convergent thinking they will work within multi-disciplinary teams to identify and solve customer pain points. As a team, we work through the innovation process from opportunity identification, concept development, prototyping, piloting and transition to launch and scale of the new service offering / business. The spectrum of opportunities ranges from advising and teaching global and regional marketing organizations innovation fundamentals to solve current day business problems, to running workshops with strategy teams, to working on dedicated project teams on new commercial innovations - and many, many more opportunities in between. 

This role requires a high energy individual with exceptional communication skills, both written and verbal. The ideal candidate will be very comfortable presenting to a large room and have an ability to rapidly absorb business process knowledge. In return, the candidate will be exposed to multiple facets and business lines of the company, typically working directly with senior managers. This role will be based in Houston, Texas, USA 

Primary Job Functions: 
• Interview consumers, customers, senior business executives and subject matter experts to understand problems / opportunities 
• Negotiate with stakeholders and reach alignment on objectives / expectations for engagement 
• Apply UCD and Design Thinking concepts in planning engagement, research, and workshop activities 
• Lead engagement team throughout project 
• Lead effort to create workshop cadence / agenda / instructions 
• Organize logistics for and facilitate field research and workshops (location, equipment, materials, etc…) 
• Lead development and presentation of reports and deliverables to sponsors (senior business executives) 
• Data synthesis, analysis, and reporting; develop themes, insight generation, and next steps for engagement partners 
• Lead and work with other teams internally and externally depending on engagement requirements; some engagements will require partnership with external consultants 

Job Requirements: 
• B.S. or B.A. in appropriate / relevant field of study 
• Ability to travel internationally; flexible and adaptable to various working conditions 
• Demonstrated work experience in design, design thinking, lean start up, change management, innovation practices
• Entrepreneurial mindset, design focused, problem seeker
• Demonstrated ability to handle multiple priorities and stakeholders 
• Proficiency in the use of computers, design tools, presentation, and communications techniques 
• Proven ability to manage short deadlines, ambiguity, and complete / known requirements 
• Exceptional organization and analytical skills with large volume of data 

Competencies: 
• Design expertise
 • Experience in new concept development
• Working knowledge of user research methods
• Comfort with ambiguity and complexity

• Experience writing articles and reports 
• Presentation & Communication (oral, written, listening, interviewing) 
• Storytelling (simplify message, switch from micro to macro)
