The Director, Creative Services is responsible for protecting, evolving and executing the company's brand vision through inspiring visual execution of all Individual Customer initiatives. Leading and inspiring innovation and creative excellence across a large team of design and multimedia professionals, the Director, Creative Services will establish and manage the overal artistic style, tone and imagery that integrates tactics across omni-channel marketing and communications strategies, into a cohesive whole across time. This role provides oversight and management of all creative initiatives as well as manages relationships with external vendors. Working in close collaboration with the Marketing Communications Account leaders, CX&M, Corporate, Digital, and Brand senior leaders, the Director, Creative Services is integral to ensuring our client's brand presence, essence and integrity by powerfully expressing our Individual Customer brand across all media - print, digital social, broadcast and experiential.



  • Directly leads the design and multi-media teams, establishing priorities and expectations
  • Attracts and keeps strong creative talent and provides focus and clarity in establishing team and leader goals, driving performance management, supporting career development and rewarding strong performance
  • Foster and support a culture of excellence, providing coaching and support to team leaders and members to inspire creativity and innovation Attract, develop and lead a high-performance team that delivers value for the customer and the organization
  • Builds a team that works collaboratively across print, digital, multi-media to achieve objectives
  • Prioritize, focus and balance multiple priorities simultaneously.
  • Can assess situations, make decisions, and get things done, with a high degree of agility and responsiveness
  • Collaborate with Marketing team leaders on an annual plan that ensures resources are in place to meet creative execution needs annually
  • Communications Account leads to ensure creative briefs are develop succinct, targeted, and customer insight-driven to focus the creative development and and set expectations for deliverables and timing
  • Use knowledge of the business – their objectives, their competitors and customers to inform strategic input into all briefs and ongoing conversations
  • Leverage superb creative judgement and ability to align and develop outstanding communications assets a powerful, coordinated visual presentation of all creative elements within a campaign that enhances the overall company brand while achieving measurable communications KPIs
  • Creative concepts that are packaged and presented to senior stakeholders in a persuasive, articulate and compelling way
  • Establish strong client service orientation to foster positive relationships and working relationships with key stakeholders to ensure strategies are aligned to priorities and business objectives
  • Establishes trusting relationship through by clearly demonstrating an understanding of the business partners, pressures, goals 
  • Keeps business partners informed of progress, anticipates challenges, and recommends solutions
  • Understands the business environment, distribution channels and customer needs, identifies business opportunities that create competitive advantage
  • Actively involved in the creative industry and introduces new tools, best-practices and innovative approaches to customer communications
  • Uses new visual communications tools introduced that either simplify, lower cost, and increase impact and reach of communications campaigns

Qualifications and Competencies:

  • University degree in multi-media design, graphic design, art, journalism, or communications preferred College degree in graphic design, multi-media, photography, a Communications, PR, journalism
  • Minimum 10 years experience in an agency or marketing communications department, with at least 5 years experience leading a creative team - graphic design and multi-media experts
  • Preferred Minimum 5 years account leadership experience Leadership: sets a vision, tone, and culture that inspires creative excellence combined with thoughtful and smart business planning People Development: able to build high-performing teams, developing both leaders and employees
  • Creativity: able to introduce new ideas and ways of reaching audiences to achieve marketing and sales objectives, balancing creativity with strategic business thinking and innovation with brand integrity
  • Business and analytical skills: understands marketing and business strategy and what drives organizational success
  • Professional expertise across multiple mediums - print design, photography, video, motion graphics
  • Must be expert in at least one and recognize how to integrate across omni-channel marketing communications strategies
  • Relationship building and management: must be able to Influence, persuade diverse business partners to sell creative concepts for projects and collaborate effectively with senior colleagues in IC and GC Marketing, SCM, and Corporate Communications
  • Excellent presentation, persuasion and negotiation skills
