Primary Purpose of Position The role will support the CEO of Life Insurance in executing strategic communications in support of the Life business and in alignment with the AIG and Life & Retirement strategy. Responsible for managing the design and implementation of communications initiatives for the Life Leadership team, including delivering strategic plans to and effectively executing tactics for the business and its constituent groups on an internal and external basis. The position is accountable for performance and results of the team's delivery on internal and external KPIs. Primary Responsibilities: Work closely with the CEO of Life Insurance and the Life Leadership Team under the leadership of the Head of Life & Retirement Communications to deliver a comprehensive communications program for the Life business. Provide persuasive, informed counsel to senior leadership on communications strategy. Responsible for developing and executing a proactive Thought Leadership and Strategic Communications campaign in support of Life business goals. Provide reputation management/crisis communications counsel and support. Draft/manage campaigns/releases/talking points for media interviews/media statements and all public relations initiatives. Lead development and execution of a comprehensive internal communications plan designed to foster cultural and business transformation of Life business; responsible for writing and editing materials, and all communication initiatives to employees. Work in close collaboration with the Life marketing team to support launch of new products and develop creative communication campaigns to foster the ongoing raising awareness of Life products and services. Ensure alignment with overall communications program. Provide exceptional communications deliverables. Experience using data and analytics to measure impact and effectiveness of communications initiatives, both qualitatively and quantitatively. Develop strong internal relationships across the business. What we are looking for Qualifications: Minimum 10 years of experience in a corporate environment as an external and internal communicator with financial services and Life Insurance a significant plus. Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Communications, Marketing, or English, Business preferred. Talented Internal Communications experience. Exceptional media strategist; prefer candidate with demonstrated track record of story placement in high caliber publications (i.e. New York Times, Wall Street Journal, USA Today, TV news networks, etc.) Thought Leadership and Strategic Communication planning/execution experience. Transformation/cultural change experience. Ability to provide persuasive counsel on reputation management/crisis communications related issues. A strong understanding of Life Insurance and financial service. Must have exceptional writing, proofing and editing skills. Professional, creative, independent, highly organized team player who enjoys working in a fast-paced and dynamic environment. Demonstrated project management skills and proven ability to work collaboratively with a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders. Track record of success working within a large corporate matrix environment with demonstrated results a significant plus. Overall experience/familiarity working in areas of thought leadership, marketing, social media, crisis communications and critical issues management. Location: Houston, TX Education: Bachelor’s degree (Master’s preferred) in Communications, Marketing, or English, Business preferred.
