Overview:

The Research Programs Team implements global operational systems, connects teams and knowledge, and problem solves operational hurdles to enable Researchers to do their most impactful work.

This particular Research Project Manager role will be a contract role, managing operational projects. You'll work closely with Researchers and Research Program Managers to execute and deliver on clearly defined projects, ensuring the highest quality work is being conducted. The ideal candidate is able to facilitate our teams' best work by driving and delivering projects to completion - managing timelines, anticipating project issues and resolving them, connecting resources to research needs, and removing barriers to doing great work. You'll project manage our team's external publishing platform as well as support event logistics for team initiatives. You'll also maintain and refine established research programs as needed.

Our team is comprised of experts in problem solving and multitasking. You'll utilize a full range of organizational and interpersonal skills that help our talented teams operate at their highest and most effective level. This role requires project management experience and broad knowledge of UX research and its impact on product design and development. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, ability to manage complex logistics, and a highly organized approach are mandatory. This is a full-time contract position based in our Menlo Park office.

Responsibilities:

  • General project management
  • Drive and support internal projects and initiatives for the Research Programs Team
  • Move initiatives forward, find resources, raise concerns to appropriate owners early, and resolve open issues that prevent progress.
  • Hold the line when the schedule or progress is in jeopardy while maintaining respectful relationships
  • Predict roadblocks and obstacles and prioritize competing needs with good reasoning and creative solutions
  • Contribute to program processes and tools, updating databases and initiating improvements where needed
  • Project manage external publishing platform
  • Partner with researchers to usher articles from idea to publication
  • Manage the editorial calendar and keep the publication committee on track to meet publication milestones
  • Coordinate third party vendors needed for article completion (i.e. editors and illustrators), including guiding through purchase order process
  • Work with researchers to secure Communications Team approval
  • Manage documentation and provide on-going support for implemented processes
  • Support event logistics for team initiatives
  • Partner with team members to produce quarterly research all hands
  • Provide support for annual team wide summit
  • Assist with recruiting and external conferences
  • Work with vendors including catering, security, live stream/video, registration, facilities, shipping, and signage on event logistics
  • Partner with Program Managers to coordinate deliverable due dates and planning deliverables

Requirements

  • 3+ years of relevant or related Program or Project Management experience 
  • BA/BS degree 
  • Strong interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills with a proven ability to handle sensitive matters with tact and diplomacy 
  • Excellent organization skills, with the ability to multi-task and juggle multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment 
  • General knowledge of research and/or UX design is preferred 
  • Track record of operating independently, demonstrating creativity, being detail-oriented, and delivering results in a highly organized manner
