Mass Markets Marketing Manager

The Mass Markets Marketing Manager is a key position in helping meet the long-term 
objectives for the Mass Markets business within a large energy utility service company in Houston.  This position will manage the 
marketing efforts for the Mass Markets business in current and new markets, develop and implement marketing 
strategies, create go-to-market plans, conduct pricing and competitive reviews and perform market analysis. This 
position will work closely with senior leadership, pricing, sales, customer service, outside Ad Agencies, internal 
Marketing Communications and Operations to increase the impact of marketing efforts to drive acquisition and 
retention and deliver financial results for Residential and Commercial Mass Markets customers. 


Essential Duties and Responsibilities: 
 Responsible for delivering customer, volume and financial performance in mass markets 
 Develop marketing strategy, acquisition and retention plans and campaigns to grow customer counts and 
profitability in each market 
 Create plans and activities to open new markets for products and services 
 Develop and nurture key relationships that enhance service to the customer and drive departmental goals
 Manage strategy to engage customers throughout their product and customer lifecycle 
 Coordinate work efforts of others to ensure integration and completion of work against expectations 
 Execute market and competitive analysis and research 
 Create and implement a segmentation strategy to grow existing customer engagement and target prospects 
 Demonstrates effective team-leadership skills to influence others to achieve organizational results and 
collaborate across functional boundaries , possesses strong interpersonal skills to develop rapport, 
relationships and consensus 
 Manage direct reports in support of marketing initiatives and drive accountability within the group 
 Develop process to provide insights into customer and campaign performance 
 Support the development of annual budgets and plan 
 Analyze, assess and report acquisition, retention, revenue, cost, and margin performance for markets and 
describe variance from plans and forecasts 
 Drives strategies around the use of emerging technologies, digital media, etc. to reach new segments of 
customers and build relationships with existing customers 

Education: 
Requires a Bachelor degree in a marketing, business, economics or related field from an accredited college or 
university. MBA is a plus 

Experience: 
 7+ years in a marketing role, with an emphasis on managing market performance and growth, planning, go-to- 
market process management, and product/pricing development. Retail gas and/or electricity marketing 
experience preferred 
 Experience in launching new markets, retail energy regulatory, pricing and product management, market 
analysis and research 
 Retail gas and/or electricity marketing experience required 
Additional Knowledge, Skills, Licenses/Certification, Abilities & Personal Characteristics (KSLAPs): 
 Expert understanding of marketing strategy, business strategy, market intelligence, business analysis, retail 
energy industry, financial analysis 
 Able to create and manage budgets 
 Perform economic analysis of business opportunities; create and implement a marketing plan to successfully 
achieve sales goals, including benefit/cost analysis 
 Demonstrates the ability to think strategically and incorporate multiple sources of information in to long and 
short term strategic and tactical plans 
 Able to understand competitive landscape, economic trends, and operational processes and costs. 
 Able to understand and discuss industrial and commercial energy processes. 
 Able to demonstrate and apply a working knowledge of retail energy pricing with an emphasis on natural gas, 
transportation, and financial instruments for pricing. 
 Able to present complex sales offerings in an understandable and convincing manner. 
 Able to make persuasive presentations to senior executives and group gatherings. 
 Able to understand and participate in sales process, including understanding of contract language and 
negotiation. 
 Able to manage multiple projects concurrently and to prioritize according to business needs. 
 Able to respond with flexibility and solve problems while maintaining effective working relationships. 
 Able to collaborate with others to accomplish the corporate or organizational objectives, including produce 
results through others while not impacting morale. 
 Able to listen carefully to understand various points of view, find common ground, build consensus and gain 
cooperation. 
 Able to provide a valid state driver's license, present and maintain a safe driving record and to operate 
company vehicles safely and in compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

required training courses and do so timely.

Physical Requirements: 
 Able to operate a motor vehicle, including ability to enter and exit the vehicle unassisted. 
 Able to exert up to 10 pounds of force occasionally, and/or a minimal amount of force frequently to lift, carry, 
push, pull, reach, grasp or otherwise move objects. 
 Able to demonstrate the manual dexterity to operate a personal computer effectively. 
 Able to sit, stand or walk for extended periods of time. 
 Able to view personal computer monitor or laptop screen for long periods of time. 
 Able to operate office machines including printer, telephone, photocopier, fax machine, calculator, scanner, 
etc. 
 Able to speak, read and understand the English language. 
 Able to hear oral communication in person and on equipment, such as telephone and mobile phone.
