Our renowned Fortune 500 insurance client, who has been helping clients stay ahead of risk since 1919, is looking for a talented freelance Creative Technologist to work onsite, 40 hours a week in their NYC location, 6 months with opportunity to extend. This is a totally cool, high energy, creative agency environment - perfect for those who love the “agency style” without the crazy hours. The supportive team includes 2 Creative Technologists, Developers, UX Designers, Strategists, Program Managers.

What is a Creative Technologist, you may ask?  A Creative Technologist is a unique hybrid of a technology-focused individual with a “creative sensibility”; a Developer who understands the creative process in order to build web projects, mobile apps and other digital experiences.

What You Will Do:

  • What is so exciting about this role is you will use your passion for emerging technologies. As a Creative Technologist, you will work with designers by using your creativity and technological skills to create digital experiences for one of the world’s largest brand.
  • As a Creative Technologist, you have your hands on every aspect of the product process - from concept meetings, creating wireframes and clickable prototypes, setting up a test group and gathering feedback. A day-to-day includes everything from refining product concepts and information architecture to coding, account and project management.
  • Participate in concepts and ideation for a Life and Retirement Product which helps consumers save for retirement. Based in NYC, collaborating with (2) other Creative Technologists, UX Designers, Researchers, Testers, and Project Managers, you will work with Team members based in LA.
  • Suggest improvements and bring latest technology thinking to every product, including considerations for all parts of the experience: accessibility, performance and design and be an advocate for the best simple and clear solutions
  • Collaborate with local and remote design teams and remote back-end integration teams 

  • You will utilize your understanding of modern web and responsive mobile development along with an appreciation for compelling user experience and visual design by creating experiences that are detail oriented, beautiful and functional within the latest frameworks.

What You Need:

  • A passion for emerging technologies with a portfolio of work that represents your technological prowess, ideas and executional ability 

  • Desire to create experiences that are detail oriented, beautiful and functional within the latest frameworks and collaborate with multi-disciplinary teams and other business units; comfortable working within an iterative process with designers to explore what is the best experience 

  • Experience developing highly usable applications that are also accessible demonstrating a working knowledge of ADA and WCAG 2.0 compliance standards. 

  • 4-5 + years professional enterprise experience in delivering exceptional work as a Developer and design critiques.
  • Expertise in modern client-site web development with HTML5, CSS3/SASS, advance CSS is essential, especially as this skill applies to responsive products and mobile apps, experience in and around React and JavaScript 

  • Experience using and helping to further develop our Pattern Library and general team growth 

  • Your portfolio should represent your technological prowess, ideas and executional ability as well as code samples. A portfolio demonstrating functional, simple, and accomplished user interfaces in an Agile workplace
  • You will be able to work well with multi-disciplinary teams and other business units, have strong communication skills, and be extremely organized
  • Experience in agency, start-up, financial, corporate – all welcome!
