Job Description:

As a facilitator, you are a charismatic public speaker and have a natural talent for teaching and coaching. You are highly flexible, decisive, and can expertly tailor your approach to any audience. You are able to improvise and deviate from the schedule when things don’t go according to plan. You will bring stakeholders together to solve complex problems collaboratively using a broad range of skills. You will work closely with business partners to understand their challenge and create the best design session possible to tackle it, while coaching them on how design thinking can be utilized to overcome a variety of obstacles.

While on the job, you’ll champion design thinking, human-centered design, and the needs of the customer often to groups who have little exposure to this style of co-creation and development.

KEY JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Lead the definition of our design thinking education strategy and curriculum

  • Lead design thinking education workshops that range from 1 hour to 3 days (there are 1-2 workshops per month)

  • Use design thinking principles (ideation, prototyping, testing, etc) and tools (ice breakers, sticky notes, journey maps, prototyping software) to facilitate sessions for a wide range of audiences, both internal and external to the company

  • Collaborate with partners to co-develop sessions and design prompts that solves for their unique and complex business problems.

  • Manage the entire life cycle of a session including intake, planning, logistics, recruiting, execution, visual capture, and synthesis

  • Confidently handle participant curveballs, discomfort, and resistance with utmost poise

  • Serve as an advocate and champion of design; providing translation of design culture and skill sets to stakeholders that have little or no familiarity in working with designers.

  • Proactively build partnerships with key stakeholders to strengthen trust and collaboration.

  • Motivate and inspire your design team members. Bring your past experiences, best practices, and diverse perspectives to enrich and deepen the larger team’s capabilities.

 

SPECIALIZED KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS

  • Undergraduate degree (required): BA / BS in design-related field, social sciences, or closely related discipline

    • Experience with Workshop Facilitation, Design Thinking and Qualitative Research techniques and methodologies is required.

    • Experience partnering with a variety of business stakeholders and with a wide variety of business problems required

    • Excellent communication skills both verbally and in writing across functions, teams, and various levels of management including senior executives, customers, and industry partners

    • Proven experience facilitating workshop or events for large groups with success and consistency

    • Experience crafting a project vision, execution strategy, and client relationships

    • Ability to build and maintain strong working relationships with colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders

    • Ability to travel 10-15% of the time
