Job Description:

Day-to-day responsibilities: 

  • Direct a team of UX designers and provide design leadership that aligns design, business development, marketing, and engineering.
  • Generate the design strategy and conduct design reviews with key stakeholders from various teams.
  • Facilitate the design team’s collaboration with business development, marketing, engineering, and other resources to help partners deliver high-quality solutions.
  • Advocate for users while balancing the constraints of the platform, its APIs, and the goals of third-party businesses.
  • Track multiple partner consultation efforts at various stages of engagement (discovery, envisioning, design, development, etc.) and prioritize deliverables.
  • Develop concept models, storyboards, wire frames, visual comps, and other design assets as needed to improve the user experience.
  • Evaluate UI solutions for value, effectiveness, and quality and present findings and recommendations.
  • Identify and apply UI patterns and components to interaction problems using interaction design best practices.
  • Develop new UI patterns and maintain these as assets for reuse by third party software developers.
  • Track the team’s effectiveness and productivity through defined metrics.
  • Identify opportunities to improve project delivery, metrics, design processes, and platform issues.
  • Prepare quarterly review of team deliverables including summary of partner consultations, documentation updates, and process changes.

 

Required skills:

  • Familiarity with a range of design methods used to design and build software, through all phases: envisioning, implementation, and validation.
  • Proven track record in delivering creative and innovative experiences.
  • Experience managing or leading a design team.
  • Strong communication skills: verbal, written, visual, and able to speak fluently to both creatives, engineers and marketers.
  • Experience translating business goals and user needs into compelling interfaces and experiences.
  • An understanding of interaction design principles and process (conceptual modeling, heuristics, patterns, usability, etc.).
  • A thorough understanding of visual design principles and process (typography, iconography, composition, color, layout, etc.).
  • Experience designing web interfaces and familiarity with HTML frameworks (Bootstrap, Office UI Fabric, etc.).
  • An understanding of how service APIs are used to build software experiences.
  • Experience with Sketch and Adobe Creative Cloud applications.
  • Strong familiarity with Microsoft Office products such as PowerPoint, Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to contribute to GitHub, managing pull requests and editing markdown.
