Job Description:

We need designers to create new chart styles and blueprints for a subset of chart types.

This project focuses on providing new chart styles for Excel, as well as customized, tailored design improvements for the following five chart types: column, bar, line, pie, donut, scatter, maps, and tables. For these initial five charts types, we estimate the need for hundreds of blueprints to provide adequate variation and high design quality for an internal design exploration.

This project will require 25 new visual styles (i.e., typography, layout, and color) and for each of those styles there will be approximately 100 variants on each chart type: these are referred to as blueprints.

Skills required:

  • Strong visual design skills. Must show demonstrated design proficiency through a portfolio illustrating the expert use of color, layout, typography, and white space.
  • Data visualization proficiency. Must be familiar with data visualization best practices, evidenced through a portfolio of work containing data visualizations (dashboard design, annual reports illustrating visual communication through charts and graphs, etc).
  • Proficiency with charting in Excel. Experience creating charts in Excel is a must, given these styles are required to work via Excel's existing charting functionalities and will be delivered as an Excel workbook.
  • Must have strong attention to detail and be able to work as a team player. Portfolio review required. Bachelor's degree in Design, Graphic Design, Fine Arts, Industrial Design or related area required. A combination of education and experience may substitute for a Bachelor's degree.
