Job Description:

In this assignment as a designer at Aquent's client, you’ll be working to help make complex products seem simple and intuitive. Your responsibilities may cover the look, feel, architecture, and/or production of one or more features, working across devices, mobile app, and web. You will collaborate closely with designers of various disciplines to design systematic and innovative features for products.

This client's products span the physical and digital worlds and, in addition to screen based user interfaces, use sensors, motion, audio, and AI to define the next generation of interaction. You should have an extensive portfolio, great design sense, a love for simplifying complex problems, and the ability to clearly articulate how a product should work both in software and in the physical world. They strive to create products that people love to use and welcome into their home.

Top 3 Daily Responsibilities:

  1. Applying strategic thinking within the context of a complex product ecosystem
  2. Author, iterate, and maintain documentation including storyboards, flows, architecture, mockups, prototypes, and animations
  3. Collaborate closely with cross-disciplinary teams of engineers, product managers and marketing

Overall Responsibilities:

  • Socialize and represent key deliverables to leadership for direction setting
  • Assess, evaluate, and optimize key features for one or more products
  • Translate abstract ideas and requirements into actionable design direction
  • Integrate user feedback and business requirements
  • Advocate for changes, refinements, and ongoing improvements
  • Consciously and exhaustively craft detailed use cases and contingencies

Required Skills:

  • BFA, BA, or BS degree in design or a related discipline
  • 3+ years experience as a designer working on consumer products
  • 3+ years experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Sketch, or equivalent tools
  • Strong understanding of user-centered design principles
  • Ability to distill complex processes into simple, clear, user interactions
  • Experience working closely with cross-functional teams on highly technical projects
  • Relevant experience in designing for iOS, Android and/or Web applications
  • Excellent written communication and documentation skills
  • High organization and efficiency working with multiple projects to meet tight deadlines
  • Obsessive attention to detail

Nice to Have Skills/Not Required:

  • Experience designing for physical consumer products
  • Technical understanding of complex systems
  • Strong leadership and collaboration skills
