Aquent has an immediate opening for a Junior Technical Apparel Designer for a temporary opportunity with a top retailer in Plano. No relocation.
The technical designer position coordinates and monitors the technical development process from design to production. This includes analyzing and reviewing merchandise for fit, construction and overall quality. Other duties include: leading fit sessions, analyzing fit and accurately communicating corrections of the assigned product area, develop product technical specification packages to communicate requirements for fit and construction from concept through to bulk production. Moreover, the technical designer will create, update and utilize blocks and patterns to ensure standards are being met. Provide technical expertise and support to cross functional teams on fit development and pre-production activities. The following list shows the required experiences and skills: at least 2 years of technical or manufacturing experience, an associates degree in related field or equivalent work experience, a clear understanding of pattern-making/grading and how fabrics/trims affect the fit of the garment, be proficient in PLM or similar product management system, proficient in Adobe Illustrator drawing tool, and proficient in MS office software. The successful candidate must have excellent verbal and written communication skills, the ability to relate effectively, up, down, and across the organization.
