Job Description:

Project: Ecommerce website feature upgrades and creative refresh

  • Serves as project team expert on usability, user research and interaction design topics.
  • Identifies and bridges communication gaps on project and design-related topics between Art Directors/Creative Directors, Engineers, and Clients.
  • Collaborates with Engineers and Art Directors/Creative Directors to decide what features will be designed for a client implementation.
  • Provides scoping estimates for tasks.
  • Represents user and business perspectives in the design process, including ease-of-use, device-specific considerations (mobile, tablet, kiosk, desktop, etc.), international considerations and accessibility/Section 508 considerations.
  • Contributes to portions of the multi-hundred page User Interface Design Specifications (UIS) across a team of User Experience Designers, including interface wireframe diagrams, form design, navigation/taxonomy design and functional specifications. Ensures that the UIS document is complete and consistent and meets the needs of all audiences: clients, engineers, quality assurance.
  • Presents UIS documents to internal teams and clients.
  • Designs and conducts original user research activities including usability testing, taxonomy testing, consumer research, and competitive analysis. Utilizes a variety of research techniques including surveys, moderated testing, unmoderated testing, in person testing, remote testing, card sorting, heuristic (expert) evaluation.
  • Analyzes, documents and presents results of user research activities to clients                                                 
  • Collaborates with Engineers and Art Directors/Creative Directors to decide what features will be designed for a client implementation                                                                                      
  • Utilizes human-factors expertise to identify and bridges communication gaps on project and design-related topics between Art Directors/Creative Directors, Engineers, and Clients.                                                                                      
  • Provides scoping estimates for tasks
  • Utilizes human-factors expertise to identify and bridges communication gaps on project and design-related topics between Art Directors/Creative Directors, Engineers, and Clients. Ensures that project stakeholders and team members understand each other when talking about business concepts and technical concepts. Translate technical concepts for business stakeholders and translate business concepts for engineers.
  • Represents user and business perspectives in the design process, including ease-of-use, device-specific considerations (mobile, tablet, kiosk, desktop, etc.), international considerations and accessibility/Section 508 considerations. Provides subject matter expertise and recommendations on business and usability issues for project team and clients.
  • Reviews creative comps and finished code to ensure that site implementations matches specifications and meets both consumers’ needs and business needs and that the site is easy-to-use.
