Assistant Buyer

Start Date:  ASAP

Contract Length:  1 Year (Contract to Hire)

Location:  San Francisco, CA

Pay Rate:  $28/hour


**A Fortune 500 Fashion Company is looking for an Assistant Buyer for the Boys team with previous buying and planning experience **




  • The Assistant Buyer develops, executes, and communicates merchandise assortment plans, financial plans and strategies that support the merchandising, marketing and financial objectives of the department
  • Collaborate with buyers and cross-channel partners to develop and communicate a comprehensive strategy that aligns future financial and product opportunities by division / department and class
  • Represent division and present a point of view in business and milestone meetings including financial results, forecast and strategies
  • Create pre-season sales, gross margin and inventory plans by division and department that support product strategies
  • Own open-to-buy forecasts.  Present financial forecast and supporting action plans in open-to-buy / monthly forecast meetings
  • Manage and communicate markdown and promotional recommendations and strategies
  • Develop / decide the product assortment, merchandise point of view, shop strategies, key item positioning, and promotional plans; ensuring that the collection is compelling, commercially viable and supports overall business objectives
  • Leads management of the website to create a compelling product experience on the site, to include inspirational merchandise presentation, simple and intuitive category navigation, and clear and accurate product details
  • Builds strong partnerships with other members of the cross-functional team and brand counterparts
  • Collaborate with peers to ensure consistency of information, share best-practices and develop systems knowledge



  • Bachelor’s degree
  • 1-2 years merchandising or inventory management experience preferred
  • Flexible and adaptive to changing priorities
  • Able to organize and prioritize workload to meet deadlines
  • Demonstrate strong listening, written and oral communication skills
  • Demonstrates logical analysis and problem solving skills
  • Able to interpret current business results to identify key learnings and develop future strategies
  • Possess a clear understanding of financial measurements including:  sales, gross margin, inventory productivity measures, etc. and how to impact them
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel
