Job Description:

Our client has implemented a data-driven (XML) content management solution/process focused on the reuse of modular marketing promotional content through multiple channels (web, print, e-mail, iPad, social).  The Design Engineer role is responsible for the design and development of extended channel solutions that will expand the scope of how content will be delivered to the Global end users.

Responsibilities include:

  • Work with and support end-users requirements in the design and development of digital capabilities to produce consistent output of promotional resources from data-drive process
  • Conduct business and technical analysis to understand content management requirements, create/update specifications for use in developing solutions
  • Develop, extend, and support tools, standards, and practices comprising of our client's content management system, including, XSL, Java and InDesign scripting
  • Develop and maintain code to specifications (XSLT and Javascript)
  • Work with business and technical teams to establish standards and best practices for applying solution in clear, consistent manner across numerous business departments and content types
  • Ensure quality assurance of content through validation, DTD, and schema tools following business rules
  • Provide documentation and training tools and standards and their application as required by different business groups
  • Troubleshoot and resolve issues with editing, transformation, and output, updating knowledge base, documentation, and training material as necessary

Qualifications:

  • Development skills and 5 years of continuous documented experience with XML-based content management, transformation, and output systems and file formats, with specific reference to:
    • XML Schema/DTD and XSLT development
    • CSS pre-processors and webpack
    • Javascript (as implemented in Adobe InDesign)
    • Adobe InDesign 
  • Digital production experience required
  • Ability to work independently, with a strong focus on problem solving and identification of systemic issues that can lead to an optimized process or workflow
  • Demonstrate a positive attitude and willingness to help resolve a wide range of issues
  • Good communication skills with the ability to convey technical details in simpler, business-specific terms
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or closely allied field.
  • Experience in XML driven Content Management systems preferred
