FIT Developer

Start Date:  ASAP

Contract Length:  6 months (with opportunity to extend)

Location:  San Francisco, CA

 

** A Fortune 500 Fashion Company is looking for a Fit Developer to join their team in San Francisco, CA **

 

Responsibilities:

  • Partner with Design, Merchandising and Product Management to obtain a clear understanding of seasonal objectives and strategies for sourcing, new garment development and costing
  • Keep abreast of developments and trends in the industry and incorporate into fit development
  • Encourage Design to maximize use of existing fit blocks during development
  • Utilize the fit library to minimize fit developments for each business
  • Leverage expertise from other areas such as technical development, market research, safety, raw material quality, contractors and risk management to fulfill requirements
  • Partner with each consumer segment to assure overall brand intent and consistency
  • Lead the garment development approval process through development of prototypes
  • Continue to support fit development through block approval
  • Partner with Design to define desired and appropriate fit model target measurements and shapes
  • Conduct model searches
  • Participate in seasonal block and competitor fit reviews
  • Develop an in-depth knowledge of the Go-to-Market calendar and take a proactive approach to setting all deadlines as it relates to fit development
  • Actively manage Go-to-Market process for the segment and drive to achieve calendar dates
  • Partner with Design and Technical Developer throughout creation process to ensure accurate fits are referenced when handed over
  • Instruct design on how to improve packages that are incomplete or vague
  • Ensure updated and accurate blocks, measurements, construction specs, thread specs, grading specs and all other technical requirements are made available for all stages of garment development
  • Communicate with key stakeholders on development issues, recommend actions and monitor status of resolution
  • Track appropriate seasonal metrics as directed to support supply measures on product development
  • Partner with stakeholders regarding alternative sourcing options to ensure desired aesthetic is achieved
  • Travel as appropriate for product inspiration, innovation and fit development

 

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree; or combination of college education and related work experience
  • 10 years of experience in design oriented pattern making and technical development for an apparel manufacturer
  • Demonstrated knowledge of construction, sewing and mass production processes
  • Ability to identify, distill and focus on key innovations that have the potential to be commercially relevant for the company
  • Dynamic analytical, problem solving and project management abilities with proven systems knowledge and expertise
  • Flexibility with regards to job responsibilities
  • Expert knowledge and proficiency with MS Office applications including Word, Excel and Outlook
