We are seeking a strong camera operator proficient in the entire video production lifecycle from shoot to final edit. This position will cover political news on Capitol Hill, working as a one man band to shoot, edit and upload video clips remotely from the House and Senate. Outside of breaking political news, this position will also be asked to shoot feature videos on a wide range of topics. Some travel required.
Experience as a Camera operator in a live or VOD environment
Editing skills with Adobe Premiere
Experience as a lighting technician and sound engineer
Experience as a grip/gaffer, stagehand or rigger
Creative visual skills, with an eye for composition, camera shading, and lighting.
Well-rounded video production crew experience and video engineering skills are required
Interest in politics and a strong news judgment
Sets up camera equipment and shots, operates cameras, can convert robotic ENG cameras into manually-operated cameras (for handheld or tripod operation)
Maintains composition, focus, and iris levels.
Maintains camera equipment and ensures firmware updates are completed.
Assists with specification of camera equipment and upgrades. Requires effective vendor management, project management and follow through ability.
Operates and assists with maintenance of lighting systems.
Possesses excellent communication and customer service skills to consult with potential talent and colleagues. Analyzes the production needs of producers and finds the best match of technology and services, enabling maximum impact of shoot.
Remains current with technological developments in the video, presentation and broadcast fields by attending conferences like NAB and InfoComm annually.
Acts as a great team player, remains open to performing in a variety of crew roles and learns new skills.
Remains flexible and prepared for changes to the schedule, including working early mornings, evenings or weekends.
