Aquent’s large D.C. association client is seeking a long-term contract Managing Content Editor. The Managing Content Editor will be responsible for the planning, creative direction, and oversight of the client’s community content generation. The Managing Content Editor primarily will be responsible for leading and managing the community content strategy needed to increase the client’s level of engagement, build the membership base, and grow revenue for the organization. The Managing Content Editor will have a strong understanding of engaging storytelling and an ability to provide creative direction to multi-disciplined team. They also will be a very strong individual contributor, an effective leader and an essential member of the management team, helping to shape strategy and inform critical communication decisions for the organization. The Managing Content Editor will ensure that the communication content strategy strongly supports the organization’s overall goals. The Managing Content Director will report to the VP for the client's Studios and Community Content. This director will work closely with the Media and Community Director to ensure that campaign planning is designed to maximize communication potential for members and the public. Responsibilities: • Creatively lead and supervise the multi-media producers on the client’s Studios team • Work with the client’s VP of Studios and Community Content, as well as the Media and Community Director to plan and manage the client’s community content strategy • Lead and oversee the production of community content by the multi-media producers and/or creative partners • Ensure that content is leveraged across multiple digital channels, including web, mobile and social - and optimized for budgets • Provide support to multi-media producers in following briefs and in the use of content creation tools • Provide creative direction on all content produced within the client’s studios • Review quality of all content produced and provide editorial feedback to both multi-media producers and outsourced creative partners on community content from inception of brief to launch • Ensure the creation and delivery of best-in-class community content for the client • Clear articulation of the business goal behind the creation of a piece (or series) of content • Lead the charge in developing a high quality and effective storytelling that attracts sponsors and potential partners • Grow revenue for the client through the monetization of video and audio content • Continually learn the latest platforms, technology tools and creative solutions • Creatively inspire and motivate teams with best in class case studies and general knowledge share Requirements: • A minimum of 10 years relevant work experience, preferably within an agency • Bachelor’s degree in English, Journalism, Public Relations or related communications field • Solid experience as a respected leader in multichannel content creation • Proven editorial skills • Outstanding command of the English language. • Training in how to tell a story using words, images, or audio, and an understanding of how to create content that draws an audience (it is critical that the content editor retain an “outsider’s perspective” much like that of a journalist.) • Experience in creating a resource or library of content • A team player with outstanding interpersonal skills and ability to express a POV and exert influence • Ability to work in a collaborative environment and lead multi-discipline teams • Ability to provide constructive feedback as well as creative direction to both in-house and outsourced teams • Skill at both long-form content creation and real-time (immediate) content creation and distribution strategies and tactics • The ability to think like an educator, intuitively understanding what the audience needs to know and how they want to consume it • Excellent negotiator and mediator with strong people skills • Ability to screen out sales pitches and look for the relevant story
