SKILLS:
The ideal candidate for this role is a quick-thinking, creatively driven, multi-tasking team player who loves tackling many projects at once. You will be responsible for everything from trend and market research to concept and spec drawings for functional soft and hard goods, working with overseas factories and approving materials and construction, so you must be very detailed oriented, organized and a great communicator. You will assist the Product Development Manager with follow up and product management of the designs they are working on. You will execute the use of hand sketches, 3-D models, computer designs (CAD, Photoshop, and illustrator) to express their ideas proficiently and accurately to other manufacturers. The ideal person for this role will have thorough understanding of technology, production methods, materials, time management and be able to meet deadlines.

Job Responsibilities:
. Analyze retail and consumer trends in the industry, specifically for relevant categories, to help shape the assortment, drive innovation, and identify new opportunities.
. Attend trade shows and shop competitor's' stores and websites.
. Create presentations and mood boards to support new concepts.
. Build strong relationships with vendors to ensure product development and sourcing objectives are achieved.
. Participates in daily email communication with domestic and international suppliers. Ensures all pertinent information is provided on a timely basis, i.e. material and/or product changes/direction, materials, color standards, etc..
. Issue product approvals upon design sign-off ensuring all design specs (materials and measurements) are met.
. Conceptualizes and translates graphic and packaging design trends to create innovative, aesthetically pleasing packaging solutions, Reviews mechanical art work (dielines, renderings, mocks, print production, etc.) for final design approval prior to release

Skills
. Be artistic, inventive and creative in addition to having an eye for detail.
. Be able to use hand sketches, 3D models, and computer programs to express designs.
. Understanding different materials and production methods and possess technical, practical and product knowledge.
. Must be able to work in a fast paced environment while managing time for each product and meeting deadlines.
. Ability to work within budgets and work out costings for designs.
. Have listening and questioning skills for discussing designs and understanding feedback from colleagues, as well as ability to support and "sell" your design proposals.

Basic Qualifications
. 2-4 years professional experience in graphic design, product development and/or retail.
. Proficiency in Adobe Creative Suite (specifically In-Design, Photoshop and Illustrator)
. Sketching both technical drawings and freeform renderings.
. Solid understanding of design and mechanicals for production.
. Must be able to simultaneously handle multiple projects in fast paced environment.
. Must possess effective written and oral communication skills.
