Chicago (October 31, 2006)—Aquent Marketing Staffing, the world’s largest staffing firm specializing in the placement of marketing professionals, is working with leading business schools and career counselors to help moms understand how they can re-enter the workforce and achieve a work-life balance through such alternative employment solutions as interim staffing.
“There are more opportunities for women looking to re-enter the workforce and/or find flexible employment solutions than ever before. The biggest thing in their way is their fears,” said Nancy Collamer, founder of Jobsandmoms.com. Collamer just released a “Back-to-Work Toolkit” that addresses the challenges and provides solutions for professional-level “comeback moms” looking to return to work. “Women have to start by understanding their options in order to overcome their fears about re-entering the workforce. I've referred many clients to Aquent. Aquent’s interim staffing and temp-to-perm model provides a perfect opportunity for most women looking to re-enter the workforce.”
Business schools are also talking about how interim staffing firms provide a great opportunity for women re-entering the workforce to increase their skill sets, get their foot in the door of large Fortune 500 companies, and/or achieve a work-life balance.
“Counselors in Darden’s Alumni Career Services office have worked with dozens of women who are facing or have faced the ‘re-entry’ struggle,” said Connie Dato English, co-director of Alumni Career Services, Darden Graduate School of Business Administration. With 35 percent of female MBA graduates planning to re-enter the workforce after a hiatus, Darden developed the “Re-entering the Workforce” workshops to provide sought-after advice on how to find a suitable position and how to market oneself after an employment gap. “Aquent’s interim marketing engagements provide a terrific opportunity for women looking to sequence back into the workforce. This is one of many options we discuss in our ‘Re-entering the Workforce’ workshop in various cities throughout the year.”
Over the past several years Aquent has been successful in deploying women who are looking to re-enter the workforce after opting out to raise a family or who are looking for a flexible employment solution as they start a family. Aquent provides a variety of flexible options including
- Temp-to-perm – This is a good way for returning women to get their foot in the door at Fortune 500 companies.
- Full-time interim projects – These projects are forty-plus hours a week and may last anywhere from three months to more than a year.
- Part-time interim projects – Depending on the need, these projects provide a variety of flexible options for those not looking to return full time. Whether it’s working three days a week or a certain number of hours per week, it all depends on what type of schedule fits both client and candidate.
- Work-from-home interim projects – Aquent can also provide both part-time and full-time work-from-home interim project work.
“After being out of the workforce for three years, Aquent helped me make an easy transition back. Since they had experience working with sequencing moms, I didn’t feel unrealistic when I went to them and described the type of work scenario I was looking for, one that would let me balance my time with family and still be able to do challenging work,” said Kelly Mincica, a project manager for one of Aquent’s clients. “Aquent found the perfect fit for me. I work 99.9 percent of the time from home with flexible hours adding up to about twenty hours a week. The project started in September of 2005 and has been extended until the end of this year.”
