Beijing (May 4, 2007)—Leading creative, marketing and communications recruitment specialist, Aquent has announced the launch of a Beijing office, its fourth office in greater China.

“The Beijing office will complement our regional network of 19 offices in eight Asia Pacific countries while also cementing Aquent’s commitment to fueling client growth,” said Aquent CEO Greg Savage.

Savage believes the new Beijing office is extremely timely, coinciding with mainland China’s ongoing talent shortage: “Opening an office in Beijing will help to strengthen our local ties with Asia, providing new opportunities for Australian talent in one of the world’s fastest growing and challenging markets.

“As our Asia Pacific Salary Survey, The Aquent Orange Book, shows, China is facing an ongoing talent shortage with companies increasingly willing to sponsor foreign candidates from its surrounding regions such as Hong Kong and Taiwan as well as further abroad including Australia and New Zealand,” said Savage.

Respected 10-year veteran of the FMCG and recruitment sectors, Tony Tang will head up the Beijing office as area manager.

“We’re thrilled Tony has accepted the role. He has spent the last three months establishing Aquent’s presence in Beijing and will be responsible for opening and developing the Beijing market including the management of client and talent consultancy services, staff marketing and operations,” said Aquent director for Greater China, Duncan Cunningham.

Prior to joining Aquent, Tang was managing director of an executive search and selection firm. He has also previously worked in general management and brand management roles.

“Our greater China business is in solid growth mode and both our Hong Kong and Shanghai offices, established in 2002 and 2005 respectively, have had a great start to the year. The opening of our Beijing office uniquely positions Aquent as the only marketing, communications and creative specialist servicing all three cities,” said Cunningham.
